Cream Cheese and Honey Baklava Recipe

Ask any experienced baker about baklava and they might roll their eyes. All of the dough layering may sound intimidating, but stick with it! The reward is worth the work.

Ingredients Cream Cheese and Honey Baklava

  • 4 oz of cream cheese
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 3 cups chopped walnuts
  • 16 oz of frozen filo dough
  • 1/2 cup Blueberry Honey
  • 1 cup water

Before starting, be sure to thaw your frozen filo dough.

Step 1

Preheat over to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13x9 inch baking pan.

Step 2

In a bowl, mix cream cheese and 1/4 cup sugar until blended. Mix in chopped walnuts.

Step 3

Trim filo dough to fit pan. Layer 20 sheets of dough in the pan and spritz each layer with cooking spray. Set aside remaining dough and cover with plastic wrap.

Step 4

Add half of the walnut mixture to the pan and spread evenly. Top with 5 more dough sheets and spritz each layer with cooking spray. Add remaining walnut mixture, spreading evenly, and top with the remaining dough sheets.

Step 5

Bake 35 - 40 minutes or until golden brown. While baking, combine water, honey and the rest of the sugar in a small saucepan. Bring to boil and dissolve sugar and simmer for 10 minutes.

Step 6

Pour your sugar and honey mixture over the warm baklava. Drizzle with honey and top with walnuts for garnish.
